The Career Guidance Committee of Baptist College, Sechu campus, in collaboration with Mavericks Academy, organised a workshop titled “A Talk on Career Opportunities” on 7th August 2026. The programme had two focused sessions, with question-and-answer slots, and a short break in between.
The first session (9:30–10:45 AM) was chaired by Dr. KhobuTsolo, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, and featured Dr. Kewepfuzu Lohe, Vice Principal of Baptist College, Sechü Campus, as the resource person; the session focused on “Emerging Academic Pathways and the Teaching Profession,” examining recent trends in academic careers, alternative teaching roles beyond the traditional classroom, and qualifications and certifications that strengthen employability in academia. The VP also announced the upcoming plans to organise Quiz competitions in the college to sharpen the knowledge of the students and update themselves on the current affairs and general knowledge for any future competitive exams. Through elaborate data and statistics, he presented an analysis on the dynamics of job stability, demands and importance of the teaching profession, both in the government and private sector. This session was followed by a Q&A at 10:30–10:45 AM.
After a short break from 10:45–10:55 AM, Session II (11:00 AM–12:30 PM) was chaired by Ms. Suvilu Venuh, Assistant Professor of English, with Mr. Mitsalo Kath, faculty and expert mentor from Mavericks Academy, Kohima, presenting on “Job Opportunities in Government Sectors and an Overview of New NPSC Syllabus”; the session outlined types of government roles and the new exam patterns, and syllabus updates relevant to aspirants. Kath also suggested the students to frequently read the newspaper materials and practice their writing skills to compete in the examination. He highlighted the state sponsored financial aid- The Chief Minister’s Corpus Fund (CMCF) in Nagaland that provides targeted financial aid and sponsorships for competitive exam aspirants, such as full-tuition civil services (IAS/UPSC), coaching scholarships and financial support for candidates who clear major preliminary examinations. The talk was followed by a fruitful round of discussions and queries from students. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks from Ms. Seyiekhrienuo Mezhu, organizing committee member.
The other roles for the event were assigned to Dr. Ghunato Neho as the rapporteur, Ms. Menyiathsu Chusah as media in-charge, and Mr. Wangnao from the Department of Political Science to handle IT support ensuring that proceedings were recorded and the technical setup functioned throughout the programme.
