Practical Life Skill Workshop 19th October , 2023

Practical Life Skills Workshop Organized by Culture Study Centre and Skill Development Cell

The Culture Study Centre, Baptist College, Kohima, and Skill Development Cell of Baptist College Kohima,with the aim to foster abilities, organized a practical life skill workshop on 19th October, 2023, from 1 pm onwards. The workshop began with a formal program chaired by Dr. Avele Thirah, Convener, Skill Development Cell. The Chaplain of Baptist College, Kohima, Mr. Tamreimung Chusi, pronounced the prayer. The formal program ended with note on the event delivered by Dr. Tsenbeni, Convener of Culture Study Centre. She emphasized on the importance of practical skills in life and the usefulness of such skills for gaining independence. Expressing the hope that every participant will earn something, Dr. Tsenbeni commenced the workshop activities.

The workshop comprised of the following:

  1. Cultural Motif Painting held in room no.15 with Mr. Wulo Akami (BCK Alumnus) as the resource person.
  2. Bamboo craftwork held in the canteen premises with Mr. Kezhalelhou Zatsu (Asst. Prof, Commerce) and Mr. Krodi Kennao (BCK Alumnus) as the resource persons.
  3. Crochet was held in room no. 4 with Ms. Loly Chophi (Asst. Prof, Department of English) and Ms. Alito Swu (Asst. Prof, Department of History) as resource persons.
  4. Paper craft also held in room. No 4 with Mr. Asilie Rürhia (Asst. Prof, Department of History) as the resource person.

The total number of participants amounted to eighty six (86) students from all departments and semesters. Twenty four (24) students participated in the Cultural Motif Painting; twenty one (21) students participated in Crochet; twenty seven (27) students took part in Paper craft; and fourteen (14) students engaged in the Bamboo craftwork.

The workshop ended with a feedback session and light refreshment.
