The Parent-Teacher Committee of Baptist College, Kohima and Sechü organised “Annual Parent-Teacher Meeting” on 6th May 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Rivenburgs Memorial Chapel. The meeting commenced with a prayer by Mr Tamreimung Chusi , Chaplain BCK.
In her introductory remark, Dr Tsenbeni (Convenor PTC & HoD, English) expressed gratitude to the parents and solicited a casual conversation. The Interim Principal, Dr Kewepfuzu Lohe, spoke on the vision of the College, which focuses on spiritual growth of the students, thereby producing responsible individuals and good citizens. He also shared that the college organised three gospel camps for the students. Dr. Lohe commented on the importance of recognising students innate talent. He concluded his address stating the importance of a happy family in a person’s life.
A few number of parents and guardians shared their concerns , most of which urged the college to provide career guidance. One guardian also highlighted the provision of internship to the students computer courses and the need of smart classroom. Some further commented on the students maintaining order as they tread the narrow road leading to the college. They also expressed their gratitude to the college for nurturing their students.
Examining the concerns shared, Dr Sentinaro said that the college have signed MoU of late, with two academy, Maverick Academy and Mahindra Education, providing professional career guidance . She further pointed out that the college have tied up with Micro world providing computer class in DCA & Tally . Also sharing that the Commerce department has initiated internship for the students.
The Chaplain, Baptist College, Mr Tamreimung Chusi, expressed his concern for the students over their mental and emotional baggage . He stated that , with such baggage they cannot be expected to excel academically. He further urged the parents to allow their wards to attend the gospel camps .
Dr Tsenbeni shared that the mentoring program of the college assigns each students to teachers, helping them not only in academics but also in other issues. Also disclosing the fact that inorder for one to choose a career, one may begin in High school and Higher Secondary level. Dr Tsenbeni also called attention to the fact that though the college functions on Christian ethics , it practices religious tolerance. Pointing out , the core values of all religion being love, honesty and integrity.
In the closing remark, Seyiesilie Vüprü urged the guardians to question their wards about their future, so that they may be provoked into thinking about it. He concluded by stating that the focus of the meeting being the students, parents and teachers should work together for their betterment.
