Orientation Programme on Career Guidance
Organised by the Career Guidance Committee, Baptist College Kohima in Collaboration with Mavericks Academy, Kohima

The Career Guidance Committee of Baptist College Kohima successfully organized a two-day Orientation Programme on Career Guidance in collaboration with Mavericks Academy, a reputed coaching institute based in Kohima. The event was organised for the students of BA& BCOM 3rd and 5th semesters, aiming to provide direction and awareness about various competitive examinations and preparation strategies.
Schedule and Attendance:
- 8th July 2025: Orientation for 3rd Semester students, attended by 114 students.
- 9th July 2025: Orientation for 5th Semester students, attended by 115 students.
Resource Persons:
- 8th July 2025:
o Mr. Vedezo, Co-founder of Mavericks Academy and Secretariat Assistant, provided an insightful session covering the different types of competitive exams, their structure, syllabus, and strategic approaches to preparation.
o Mr. Mitsalo, Mentor at Mavericks Academy, followed up with additional guidance on preparation methods and motivation techniques.
- 9th July 2025:
Mr. Mitsalo conducted the session, offering an in-depth discussion and resolving queries raised by students.
Highlights of the Programme:
The orientation aimed to provide students with:
(a) A clear understanding of the landscape of competitive exams such as UPSC, NPSC, NSSB, banking, SSC, etc.
(b) Details on exam structures, syllabi, and time management strategies.
(c) An introduction to the planning process for long-term exam preparation.
In addition, Mavericks Academy introduced their upcoming on-campus coaching course tailored for Baptist College students. This included:
(a) Course syllabus, schedule, and teaching methodology.
(a) Fee structure and duration of the course.
(b) How early engagement with such a course can provide students with a head start in their preparation journey.
The orientation program was chaired by Ms. Kelhouvinuo, Convenor of the Career Guidance Committee, who welcomed the resource persons and coordinated the proceedings.
The sessions received a positive response from the students, with active participation and engagement. The orientation program marks a significant step toward bridging the gap between academic learning and competitive exam readiness for the students.
