A faculty development programme on “Effective Teaching Strategies” was organised at Baptist College on the 2nd of March 2024. The programme was organised by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (lQAC) of the college in collaboration with State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) The programme comprised of two sessions with Mr. Daniel Thong Seb, Senior Lecturer, Head of ICT & Inclusive Education SCERT and Mr. Aylwin Semp, Lecturer, DIET, Wokha as the resource persons. In the first session, Mr. Thong threw light on “Inclusive Teaching Practices” focussing on the need of mainstreaming children with intellectual disabilities, inclusive and exclusive practice, strategies for Inclusive education and role of teachers.
The second session “Integrating Technology in the classroom” was taken up by Mr. Aylwin Semp, Lecturer, DIET, Wokha. Speaking on the importance of using technology in classroom teaching- learning experience, Mr. Semp shared three tips to help integrate technology in the classrooms, namely 1) Gamify Learning Experience, 2) Interactive Lecture and 3)Creation of online classroom. A practical demonstration on how to use the various online tools, platforms and applications such as Quizizz, Google Slides, Google Docs, Google Sheets, WhatsApp, Facebook, GoogleMeet etc. which can become handy teaching tools was done.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Sentinaro, IQAC Coordinator. Dr. Kekuchol Pusa, Principal of Baptist College delivered the welcome address and Dr. Videkhono Yhokha, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology proposed the vote of thanks. The rapporteurs for the programme were Dr. Tsenbeni, HOD, Department of English and Ms. Süvilü Venuh, Assistant Professor, Department of English.
