Freshers’ Orientation Programme, 2nd July 2025

The Freshers’ Orientation Programme for the academic year 2025 was held across all departments on 2nd July, 2025 at 9:30 AM. The programme aimed to welcome the newly admitted first semester students under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP), and oriented them on academic structure, college regulations, and co-curricular activities.

 Department of English

Held in Room No. 7, the session was chaired by Ms. Juving Nokhio Lam. Dr. Tsenbeni, HoD, briefed students on the six papers under FYUGP, assessment patterns, and UG Certificate Courses. Dr. Sentinaro highlighted the twenty-seven committees under IQAC and encouraged participation in clubs like NSS, Eco Green Club, and Red Ribbon Club. Mrs. Loly Chophi elaborated on college rules,

emphasizing attendance requirements, discipline, and uniform policy. A prayer was led by Ms. Rozila Sangtam, and Ms. Asola C. Jamir and Dr. Enünü Sale were the rapporteur and photography in-charge. A total of 48 students and 7 faculty members attended.

Department of Commerce

Conducted in Room No. 8 and chaired by Dr. Avele. Dr. Kevino Nagi, spoke on course structure, credit distribution, and assessment systems. Mr. Kezhalelhou Zatsu spoke on discipline, attendance, uniform policies, and co-curricular engagements such as NSS, Red Ribbon Club, and BCF. Dr. S.K. Pandey concluded with motivational advice on time management and academic planning.

Department of History

The programme was held  in Room No. 5 which began with an invocation by Mr. Asilie Rürhia, HoD. Dr. Visetonu Natso chaired the session and introduced the faculty. Ms. Alito Swu presented the FYUGP course details, while Mr. Chubutse Naro covered rules and regulations. Mr. Rürhia also encouraged student participation in extra- and co-curricular activities. A total of 108 students and 5 faculty attended.

 Department of Political Science

Held in Room No. 3 and chaired by Mrs. Setonu Pucho. Ms. Naro, spoke on academic framework and assessment methods. Mr. Seyiesilie Vüprü emphasized on discipline and conduct, while Mr. L. Thsidelong Rudy outlined curricular and co-curricular engagement through seminars, workshops, and competitions. The session concluded on an encouraging note, urging students to strive for academic and personal excellence.

Department of Sociology

The program was Chaired by Ms. Veshetsülü Rüho in room no. 9.  Mr. Vincent Kent, HoD, introduced the FYUGP course structure and university requirements for attendance. Dr. Videkhono Yhokha detailed the college rules and core values. Mr. Kevizhalhou Medom presented on co-curricular activities and the role of student involvement in holistic education.

The Freshers’ Orientation Programmes of all departments successfully introduced the first semester students to the academic system, institutional regulations, and diverse opportunities available for their growth and development. The sessions laid a firm foundation for an informed and disciplined academic journey at Baptist College, Kohima.
