Foundation Day, 23rd August 2025

On its 43rd year since the inception of the institution back in 1982, Baptist College, Kohima celebrated its Foundation Day for the first time under the theme “Striving Towards Excellence” on 23rd August 2025 at Auditorium, Baptist High, Kohima.

The celebration was graced by Smt. Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Hon’ble Minister, Women Resource Development&Horticulture Govt. of Nagaland. The programme was chaired by Dr. Tsenbeni, Assistant Professor & HoD, English, Baptist College, Kohima.

Short speeches were delivered by Dr. Kevileno Sakhrie, Retired Academic and Educator, Former HoD (English) Kohima College, Kohima, on behalf of the teacher from the first batch who rendered their free services for two years during the college’s formative years; and Asano Sekhose, Retired Chairman, Nagaland Board of School Education, on behalf of the student from the first batch.

The first session witnessed the lighting of the candle and greetings by Rev. Savito Nagi, President, ABCC, prayer by Dr. Rachülie Vihienuo, Executive Director, ABCC, welcome address by Vipralhou Kesiezie, college anthem by BCK Choir, special song by staff of BCK and vote of thanks by Dr. Kewepfuzu Lohe, Principal, Baptist College, Kohima.

Following a lunch break, the second session began at 1:00 p.m., chaired by Tamreimung Chüsi, Chaplain, BCK. The message was delivered by Rev. Dr. Kedo Peseyie, Former college Chaplain, on ” Theology of Work”.He highlighted the spiritual significance of work and its role in shaping responsible and committed individuals. The session included worship and invocation led by the Baptist College Fellowship.

The Scripture was read by Asilie Rürhia, Assistant Professor & HoD, History, from the Old Testament, and Kethosenuo Medoze, Assistant Professor, from the New Testament, respectively. The Students of the Sechü Campus presented a special song.

Testimonies were shared by Alito Swu, Assistant Professor, Department of History, and Sharmila Raiku, an alumna from the Class of 2025, who both reflected on their experiences with BCK, expressing that it was part of God’s plan for the college to be their Alma Mater. A special presentation was also given by alumna Mevavinü Pucho, Class of 2024.

The event concluded with a closing hymn, “ Great Is Thy Faithfulness”, and benediction by Rev. Dr. Mechiehol Savi, Managing Director, Baptist High, Kohima.
