Baptist College Kohima Observed “Literary Day”, 5th April, 2024

The Baptist College, “Literary Day”, 2024 under the theme “Educate, Articulate, Liberate” was held on 5th April, 2024, at Ura Academy, Kohima. Mr. Robinson Temsu Jamir, Head, Department of History and Convenor of the Inter-Collegiate Debate Competition, Sazolie College, was the Guest Speaker and Debate Critic.

The activities conducted were :

  1. Film Screening on the theme “Go Green Express.” The winners of the short Film making competition were The Eight Brothers from Sechü campus, and the BA 4th Semester SEC class (General and Sociology students). The films were adjudged by Mr. Keduokhrietuo Sachü (Sound and Content Head, Take One Studio/Member of Film Association of Nagaland), Mr. Vikepe Yhokha (Cinematography, Take One Studio/ Member of Film Association of Nagaland) and Ms. Sevolu, Asst. Prof., Environmental Science and Convenor of Eco club Baptist College.
  2. Debate competition on the topic “Social Media has blurred the Practical Reality of Today’ Youth” comprising of 14 participants with 7 on the motion bench and 7 against the motion. Ms. Sanjana Sarki of the 6th Semester Sociology Department was awarded the best debater, while the against bench emerged as the winning team. The Debate was moderated by Dr. Khobu Tsolo.
  3. Extempore speech: The winners were Ms. Syntia Chemtok (6th Semester, Department of History) in 1st Position and Mr. Kevingulie Metsieo (2nd Semester, Department of Sociology) in the 2nd
  4. Prepared speech competition on the topic “Rights Come with Responsibilty.” Ms. Razouvinuo of 6th Semester from Sechü campus won the 1st position and Ms. Toni Awomi of 2nd Semester, Department of Sociology came in the 2nd

The event came to an end with various departmental presentations on the theme “Express Yourself” followed by prize distribution. The rapporteurs for the day were Ms. Keneiseno Savino, Ms. Chumei, Ms. Ngiplon and Mr. Kumrito.
