Assistant Professors Dr.Tsenbeni and Ms. Alito Swu officially participated in a One-Day State-Level Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Curriculum Planning and Development in Linewith NEP 2020. The event was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kohima College, Kohima, Nagaland on 2nd May 2025. The programme was designed to equip faculty with essential knowledge and skills related to curriculum formulation in alignment with the mandates of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The resource persons for the programme were Dr. Sandip Ratna, Associate Professor at the State College of Teacher Education, Kohima, and Dr. Neizekhonuo Liezietsu, Assistant Professor at the same institution. In the first session, Dr. Neizekhonuo Liezietsu, provided a comprehensive overview of the concept and processes of curriculum planning and development. Her presentation elaborated on the meaning and importance of curriculum, its core principles, and the sequential process involved in curriculum design. She also addressed the key features of NEP 2020, emphasizing its focus on flexibility, multi-disciplinarity, student-centric approaches, critical thinking, creativity, and the development of practical skills. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, accompanied by experience-sharing from various colleges that had undertaken the framing of Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) and Value Added Courses (VAC) syllabi.
The second session, speaker Dr. Sandip Ratna, focused on course design under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) structure as proposed by NEP 2020. Dr. Ratna drew comparisons between the former education policy and NEP 2020, offering critical insights into the evolution of curriculum frameworks. He discussed the detailed components of the Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes (CCFUP) and emphasized essential elements in course development, such as formulating appropriate paper titles, defining specific and general objectives, and articulating expected learning outcomes. The session culminated in a hands-on
activity wherein participants engaged in trial framing of SEC and VAC syllabi based on the FYUGP
model, followed by a Q&A session.
