The 44th Sports Meet, 2025 of Baptist College, Kohima under the theme “Chasing Excellence, Embracing Sportsmanship,” was held from 16th – 18th October, 2025 at the college campus on the first day and Thizama Ground on the last two days of the sports. The Guest Speaker in the inaugural ceremony Mr. Keviyachü Liegise, Member, Governing Body, Baptist College, Kohima spoke on inculcating the spirit of sportsmanship with its foundation laid on moral uprightness and integrity. He also apprised on teamwork, discipline and striving for excellence in the field of sports, and in the wider aspect of life.
The sports meet began with the hoisting of flag and singing of the College Anthem by the college choir. A welcome address was delivered by Mr. Daniel Konyak, President, Student Council and invocation pronounced by Ms. Jasmine, President, Baptist College Fellowship. The opening ceremony was chaired by Ms. Kenlumngausilie, Women Coordinator, Student Council and the leaders of the four teams namely, Dzükou, Japfü, Saramati and Shilloi pledged their oath.
The exhortation and kick-off of final football match on the third day of the sport was done by Dr. Kekuchol Pusa, Principal, Baptist College, Sechü campus, followed by prize distribution presented by Mr. Medoseto Tholre, Games & Sports Secretary, Student Council. Vote of thanks was given by Ms. Sezonu Temi, Asst. Games & Sports Secretary, Student Council and Mr. Alumpi T Sangtam, Asst. General Secretary, Student Council pronounced the benediction. Mr. Thrunso, Information & Publicity Secretary, Student Council chaired the closing ceremony.
On the three-day sports meet, the college witnessed fifteen sport events including football, volleyball, basketball, arm wrestling, 100 metre race, etc. in both men and women categories and an exhibition match witnessed between the faculties, student council and volunteers. The overall champion of the 44th Sports Meet was Japfü team, followed by Saramati and Dzükou team in the second and third positions respectively. The three-day sports meet closed successfully with coordination and participation from the students and teachers.
