The State Level Youth Festival 2026 was organized by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland, under the theme “Youth, Skills & a Self- Reliant Nagaland”. 21 students along with Mr. Kevizhalhou Medom, Asst. Professor department of Sociology attended the event on invitation as part of the MOU signed with the department.
The festival was held on 29ᵗʰ September,2026 at 9:00am at Hall B, I.G. Stadium, Kohima. The program was chaired by Shri. Kethosituo Sekhose, NCS, Director, Youth Resources and Sports and commenced with the National Song and National Anthem. This was followed by an invocation by Shri. Vikhoto Zao, Pastor, PORC. A warm welcome address was delivered by Shri. Anthony Ngullie, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Youth Resources and Sports.The festival was declared opened by the Special Guest.
Later, the inaugural session began with talks with several influencers who motivated the youth and also different stalls were set up for showcasing and selling local handcraft, homemade cakes, flowers and other hand-made products, displaying the hard work and creativity of youth.
The competition started with participants from several districts, in which the youths showcased their rich cultural heritage by performing Folk Song. Simultaneously, painting, poetry and declamation competition were conducted in different venues. Two students from our college also participated in the poetry competition namely Apuka Zhimo from B.A 3ʳᵈ semester and Pipivi Sheqi from B.A 1ˢᵗ semester represented their creativity and expressive skills. After a short a break, a vibrant Folk Dance Competition was held, which was one of the main attractions of the day.
The program concluded with the declaration of the result and distribution of prices, marking the successful end of the youth festival.
Overall, the youth festival was a grand success and provided a great platform for the youth of Nagaland to showcase their talents, skills and culture diversity.
