Baptist College Attends Creator’s Meet & Interaction, on 21st March, 2026

On March 21, 2026, 42 students of Baptist College, accompanied by Mr. Tamreimung Chusi, Chaplain, attended the “Creator’s Meet & Interaction” held at the Regional Centre for Excellence in Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA). The event featured renowned poet, lyricist, and screenwriter Javed Akhtar, along with acclaimed actress Shabana Azmi.

It was organized by the Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) in collaboration with the Indian Performing Right Society and Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland.

The primary objective of the programme was to launch an Intellectual Property (IP) Hub in Kohima aimed at safeguarding the rights and royalties of local music creators. The session, witnessed participation from artists, influencers, students, and art enthusiasts across the state.

In his address, Javed Akhtar, Chairman of IPRS, highlighted the importance of recognizing the intellectual value of music. He described Nagaland as a fertile ground for talent but pointed out the challenges faced by creators due to lack of access to formal copyright systems. Emphasizing that “music doesn’t need a passport or a visa,” he encouraged local artists to expand beyond regional boundaries and engage with the broader industry.

Shabana Azmi shared her reflections on her first visit to Nagaland, expressing admiration for its culture, warmth, and artistic spirit. The session concluded with her quoting Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change that you wish to see in the world,” followed by a photo session and light refreshment.
