The seminar on “How to Prepare for Government Examinations” was held on 13 August 2026 from 1:30 to 2:30Pm in Room No. 3 at Baptist College, Kohima. The event was organised by Mahendra’s in collaboration with the Alumni Association of Baptist College, Kohima. The programme began with a welcome address by Ms.Imtisenla, member of the Alumni Committee, after which the resource person, Mr. Tsutsamo from Mahendra’s Institute, delivered the main presentation.
Mr. Tsutsamo emphasised that a student’s future career trajectory often begins during undergraduate studies, noting that the marks obtained at the college level can become decisive later when preparing for competitive examinations. He therefore encouraged students to give due importance to their academic performance alongside dedicated exam preparation. During his presentation he outlined the structure, eligibility requirements, and mark distribution for several competitive examinations, including NSSB, NPSC, SSC, and various banking exams. He advised students to study the official syllabi carefully and to refer to previous years’ question papers before beginning focused preparation, explaining that this approach helps familiarise aspirants with question patterns and time management requirements.
Regarding recent changes to the NPSC examination, Mr. Tsutsamo observed that the exam has become more challenging with the introduction of a new pattern and likened its difficulty level to that of the UPSC; he also noted a positive aspect, which is that aspirants can now align their study plans to prepare for both NPSC and UPSC concurrently where syllabi overlap. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Ketoukhriezo Soukhrie, an alumnus of Baptist College. The seminar was attended by approximately 70 participants, including students, alumni, faculty members, and the resource person’s colleague.
