RED RIBBON CLUB

Red Ribbon Club is a movement empowering students in educational institutions in the age group of 17 to25 by giving them informatlon and life skills to protect themselves from HIV and AlDS, and also by training them into peer educators for spreading awareness both in campuses as well as in community.

The Red Ribbon Club in Baptist College was formed on 3r August 2006, initiated and supported by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society ( NSACS), Since its inception in the college, the RRC has carried out a wide range of activities and training programs like peer educators training, workshops, group discussions, painting and slogan writing competition with themes on HIV/AIDS awareness, blood donation camps, campaigns on HIV/AIDS awareness, healthy living, sanitation drives etc, and has also participated in important events and observance of important days organized by the NSACS.

These various RRC activities in the College are conducted with the following objectives:

  1. To bring the awareness among the students about HIV/AIDS infections and its preventive measures.
  2. To promote regular voluntary non-remunerated blood donation by the students so as to increase the access to safe and adequate quantities of blood in order to help the needy during emergencies.
  3. To sensitize the students regarding care and support of people living with HIV/AIDS and instill in them the spirit to reduce the stigma and discrimination against them.
  4. To train the students as peer educators to spread awareness within and outside the campus.

First Aid Committee Baptist College.

The first aid  committee was set up on the 21st of April, 2020, comprising of five (5) members and twenty four(24) student members from the college.

Introduction:

It is very important to maintain an overall comprehensive health program of the institution. It is part of the all round development of an individual and increases efficiency in the work.So, the main focus of the committee is to provide timely medical help and awareness to the students, teaching and non- teaching staffs in the institution.

Importance of First Aid committee in institutions:

Health care services are important in institutions in order to provide medical care during emergencies like illness, injury, accidents etc while at college. It also helps to ensure that all the students get appropriate and timely referrals to health care providers. The committee can also monitor and control the spread of communicable diseases, provide counselling sessions on wellness and health topics.

In our institution, the first aid committee looks after the basic medical requirements of the students and staff. Therefore, the committee under the supervision of the college management has set up a first aid station. Medical services provided by the committee includes treatment of minor health issues, injuries etc.

Aims:

  • Recognising educational institutions as a useful platform, the committee aims to strengthen health promotion, disease prevention and intervention by awareness programs.
  • To impart timely prevention, promotive, curative and rehabilitative health services to all the students.
  • To ensure that students learn the requisite knowledge of medical care.
  • Imparting skills of emergency care.
  • Training of students on basic first aid.

Objectives:

  • To orient the students of the available health facilities.
  • To avail medical assistance in times of emergencies.
  • Awakening health consciousness among the population in the institution.
  • To apprise the students of personal safety which requires medical attention.
