A Talk on Substance Abuse, organised by the Substance Abuse Control Committee on 28th October, 2024

Substance Abuse Control Committee, Baptist College, Kohima organised a talk on “Substance Abuse” on 28th October 2024 at Baptist College, Kohima with Ms. Veronica Nriame, Psychiatric Social Worker, District Mental Health Programme, Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima as the resource person.

The event aimed to educate students about the dangers and consequences of substance abuse, promoting a healthy and addiction-free lifestyle.

The resource person shared her expertise and insights on substance abuse and emphasised the critical link between mental well-being and substance abuse. She highlighted how ⁠mental health issues can lead to substance abuse and how substance abuse aggravates mental health problems. She also advised students to recognise signs of mental distress, seek professional help when needed and avoid resorting to substance abuse as a coping mechanism.

The programme was chaired by Mr Chubutse Naro, Convenor (Substance Abuse Control Committee) and vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Kihitoli Kiho, Member.
