The Department of Political Science, Baptist College, Sechü Campus successfully organised a Mock Conference on Global Issues on 17th October, 2024. This engaging event provided students with a platform to explore critical global challenges, enhance their research skills, and develop their presentation abilities. The program began with an invocation prayer by Ms. Wabe-u Naro, followed by a delightful musical performance by the B.A. 5th Semester students, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Chairperson, Ms.Rüülhou-ü Mere, outlined the objectives of the conference , emphasizing the significance of addressing global issues collaboratively. Five teams participated, each consisting of five members, tackling topics such as Countering Terrorism, Climate Issues, Population Dynamics, Corruption, and Human Rights Issues. Each team presented their insights, with two members presenting while the others engaged actively during the Q&A sessions, showcasing their preparedness and critical thinking. Dr. Khobu Tsolo, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology moderated the conference, providing constructive feedback and valuable suggestions after each presentation. His insightful overall assessment at the end of the sessions offered guidance for future endeavors. Mr. Neisengulie and Mr. Wangnao were the Observers, ensuring a smooth and fair process. The event concluded with a brief vote of thanks by the Chairperson, followed by the distribution of Certificates of Participation, recognizing the dedication and contributions of all participants. A group photo session captured the camaraderie and enthusiasm of the attendees, commemorating their collective efforts. This was followed by light refreshments, allowing for informal discussions and celebrations of shared knowledge. The Mock Conference proved to be an invaluable learning experience, fostering critical thinking, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of global challenges. The event inspired participants to approach these issues with a renewed commitment to positive change.
