Baptist College Attends 78th Naga Independence Day Program, 14th August, 2024

The Student Council along with 290 students from Baptist College attended the 78th Naga Independence Day program under the theme Kuknalim organized by the Naga Students Federation (NSF) on the 14th of August, 2024 at the NBCC Convention Centre, Kohima. The program commenced at 10 AM which was chaired by Eno Mteisuding, Vice President, NSF along with hoisting of Naga Flag.

The session began with invocation by Eno Jonathan Mesen, pastor, Rengma Baptist Church, Kohima followed by keynote address by Eno Medovi Rhi, President, NSF. The speaker of the 1st session was Eno Neingulo Krome and he spoke on the Topic: Nagas Yesterday – The Odyssey , where he reminded us how our Naga leaders fought and struggled in the past for distinct ethnic identity, culture and political aspirations and also how Naga separated  from the rest of India. He also spoke on how NNC declared Independence for the Nagas on August 14th, 1947.

The speaker of the 2nd session was, Dr. Phyobemo Ngullie and he spoke on the Topic: Nagas Today: The Crossroad, where he talked about how Nagas today are struggling with Trauma which disables them to grab opportunities, change of mindset, fear, pressure and also lack of future for our Naga Youth.

In the last session Dr. Rosemary Dzüvichü spoke on the Topic: Nagas Tomorrow– The Vision. In her speech she quoted, “Naga is more than a vision, it is a movement empowering our people.” She further questions us on how to maintain our culture for the future generations. She said it is by preserving our cultural heritage, peace-making, peace-building, language and practices that we can maintain our culture for the future generations. The program ended with benediction by Eno Lujeka Assumi, Associate Pastor, Sumi Baptist Church, Kohima.
