The 44th Freshers’ Day of Baptist College, Kohima under the theme: “New Beginning, Endless Possibilities” was held on 30th of June, 2026 at Ura Academy Hall, with Shri B. Henok Bushem, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Govt. of Nagaland graced the program as the Guest Speaker. Shri Buchem shared that while delving into new paths there lies uncertainties but so are the avenues of possibilities. He apprised that education defines what one becomes, where talents and dreams take shape. Learning beyond the available information by applying knowledge with curiosity, character applied with virtue and perseverance as the greatest qualification, and pursuing careers with passion by leading righteous and ethical lives. He encouraged the students to pursue excellence and not perfection, value integrity more than popularity, respect every individual regardless of background, and use learning and education to serve humanity. He shared that every great achievement is created by small decisions, where future is build, not inherited.
The note on the event was delivered by Dr. Kekuchol Pusa, Principal, Baptist College, Kohima where he welcomed the freshers and shared on academic progression in a semester system, by laying emphasis in excelling in academics and holistic development. A speech on behalf of the freshers was delivered by Mr. Donensangle, B.A 1st Semester, Dept. of English.
Earlier invocation was pronounced by Mr. Asilie Rürhia, Asst. Professor, Dept. of History, welcome address presented by Mr. Thrunso K, President, Student Council, Baptist College. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Sezono Temi, General Secretary, Student Council, Baptist College and benediction pronounced by Mr. Tamreimung Chüsi, Chaplain, Baptist College. The program witnessed songs presented by the 5th semester students, Baptist College Fellowship and others. The program was chaired by Ms. Tabitha K. Assumi, Asst. Professor, Dept. of History.
The highlight of the Freshers’ Day was the contest of Mr. and Ms. Freshers of Baptist College, Kohima. Mr. Meye Wetsah majoring in Political Science from Sechü campus and Ms. Nyanbeni Tungoe majoring in History from Kohima campus were adjudged Mr. and Ms. Freshers of Baptist College, Kohima. The program ended successfully with the active participation and cooperation from the college fraternity.
